Town Government Structure

Local government consists of several entities that perform separate functions and fund their operations through distinct taxation. These are the Town Government, School District, and Sewer Commission. Each of these entities administers its own functions with the town, working in cooperation with each other but independent of each other.

Town Government

Allenstown has a municipal form of government with executive authority administered by a Board of three Selectmen. Day-to-day operations at town hall are managed by a Town Administrator, who reports to the Selectmen. Numerous departments, boards, committees, and commissions handle various aspects of town operations and services.

Several services are available online. See the Forms page.

School District

The education of children in town is administered by the Allenstown School District, AKA New Hampshire School Administrative Unit #53 (SAU 53).

Sewer Department

Wastewater is collected and treated by the Allenstown Sewer Department, which is managed by a three-member Sewer Commission.
